Project Gigaton and Saint-Gobain: Aiming for a Sustainable Future

Sustainability has become a key focus for many companies around the world as they strive to reduce their environmental impact and create a better future for the planet. In 2019, Saint-Gobain signed the UN Global Compact's "Business Ambition for 1.5°C," committing itself to reach net-zero emissions by no later than 2050. This pledge is to create sustainable construction and resource efficiency in the fight against climate change.

Recently, Saint-Gobain ADFORS was recognized as a Giga Guru supplier through Project Gigaton. Project Gigaton, spearheaded by retail giant Walmart, aims to reduce emissions in the global value chain by a staggering 1 billion metric tons - a gigaton. Through Project Gigaton, Walmart invites its vast network of suppliers to join this effort by setting and pursuing aggressive targets to cut emissions, minimize waste, and conserve water. The project is structured around several key pillars, including energy, waste, packaging, agriculture, and product use and design, each offering a specific avenue through which suppliers can contribute to the overall goal.

Collaborating with like-minded partners, such as our involvement in Project Gigaton, allows Saint-Gobain ADFORS to amplify our impact. Through these partnerships, we can share knowledge, leverage technological advancements, and implement best practices that drive us closer to our sustainability targets. Our inclusion in this elite group of suppliers highlights the tangible impact of our efforts in emissions reduction and sustainable development, aligning perfectly with Walmart's ambitious Project Gigaton.

This recognition by Walmart is both an honor and a responsibility. It validates our past efforts while simultaneously setting the stage for our future endeavors in sustainability, encouraging us to keep innovating, collaborating, and leading by example in the quest for environmental excellence. As we forge ahead, Saint-Gobain's commitment to sustainability remains unwavering. Our vision for the future is clear: making the world a better home!
